There is nothing worse than bits and pieces of papers floating around the place or over crowded spaces with no more room to store things. One feels out of control very quickly and bills remain unpaid or important document disappear which makes our stress levels increase.
You might find it useful to buy card board boxes (available at stationery shops) to archive legal documents, old bank statements and other bits and pieces. These can easily be stored on a shelf and make the area look neat and tidy.
If you have a room dedicated as a home office and there is an inbuilt wardrobe – great, make use of it, and instead of hanging rails fit in as many shelves as possible giving you ample storage space for your books, storage boxes or folders. Our ventilated shelving is a great and inexpensive option to make the most out of your wardrobe / storage cupboard, but of course we can help you with Melteca shelving also. There are some things to look out for in order to make sure there is enough space for folders in between the shelves or if you like the box idea above – there needs to be enough room to stack 2-3 boxes on top of each other.
Dedicate one wall to build yourself a work station with a desk, drawers and overhead shelves. We are happy to provide you with on-site expert advice and can customise in accordance with your needs and wishes. This is also a great option for a computer nook.
We sell storage units that could be used in an office – or if preferred could be kept in the garage for storing old files.
Have a look though our website for ideas, or contact us and we will be happy to discuss what works best for you.

Sorting out your wardrobes in the spare room can be an easy and cost effective excersise with our standard set-ups. All you have to do is to let us know which one would suit your needs and we might even be able to put it in before Christmas. Our open spaces are filling up fast though so if you would like it installed this side of Christmas please let us know soon!!
You may wish to have a look at our blog from 25 August 2011 below as it applies really well to this time of the year too. It is all about getting organised and making room for the summer clothes and all those Christmas presents for the kids. Definitely one thing on my (the writers) to-do list is to finally change my wardrobe from spring to summer and put away the Merinos and boots and, yes, my kids' bedrooms could do with a bit of a clear-out too.
Just to let you know that our showroom will be closed from 23 December 2011 and will re-open on 16 January 2012. However Chris will available from the 11th, you can contact him on his mobile 027 6888 178.
We wish you a wonderful Christmas, lots of fun over the holidays and a fantastic New Year.

Our room by room spring make-over ideas for your home:
Tip no 1:
Start with your wardrobe and sort your clothes in three piles. One is for the old and unwanted clothes that can be donated. One is for the thick winter coats and woollies that you won’t need until next winter and one pile is for your lighter clothes.
Our saving tip: Go through your spring wardrobe and make a list of items to complete your existing wardrobe. Maybe you could wear that dress if you just had the right pair of shoes for it or brightened it up with a colourful scarf.
Our wardrobe tip: Why not store your winter woollies and coats in the wardrobe of your spare room? Or make the hallway cupboard your coat cupboard? Quite often these ideal storage spaces are under-used because they lack a good shelving set-up. A practical ventilated shelving solution for example is cost effective and allows for good air flow.
Tip no 2:
A couple of times a year it pays to take the time to sort out your children's bedrooms. Go through the toys and put them back into the right boxes (your child will thank you too if you find the missing card for the Memory game), throw out any broken toys and fill a bag with toys that aren’t played with any more to donate them. Do the same with the clothes and shoes that they have grown out of.
Our saving tip: Take a bag of old toys or clothes to second hand places like Zero to Five, quite often you get good money for it. Trade Me is always a good option of course.
Our wardrobe tip: Store toy boxes on the top shelf of your child’s wardrobe and only get out one box at a time. It is a lot easier to tidy up after playing and the kids are most likely to play with a toy if they haven’t seen it for a while.
Tip no 3:
And last but not least – why not give your garage a make-over? Some people’s garages are so full of junk it is impossible to find anything. For the things you want to keep – store them properly. Garage storage cupboards will make a huge difference as you can store unsightly tools and car cleaners. Why not put a few hooks up to hang your waders or gardening clothes? And don’t put up with unsightly clothes horses – fold down or retractable clotheslines are the best thing since sliced bread.
Our saving tip: A garage sale is a fantastic way of getting rid of bits and pieces and you can use the money to buy something new! You will be surprised what people will buy – the old saying goes “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure”.
Our shelving tip: Don’t want to invest in cupboards at this stage? Even a couple of long shelves on your garage wall will organise your bits and pieces.
We wish you a fantastic start to spring and look forward to talking to you more about organising your home to get it ready for spring.
